Palazzo Excelsior Palermo was founded in 1891, to mark the 5th Italian National Exhibition. At the time, it was known as Hotel De La Paix: a name that already evoked hospitality, connection and openness to the world.

When the pavilions of the Exhibition were dismantled, the Palazzo remained. It has weathered the ages, serving various purposes and undergoing transformations, whilst retaining the rare character of buildings destined to endure. Ernesto Basile’s redesign defined its architectural elegance, giving the structure a sense of proportion that is still recognisable today.
